Course Substitution Requests
High Point University does not provide waivers for degree requirements. Instead, students must request a course substitution on the basis of disability. To request a course substitution, the student's disability must be actively registered in the Academic Services Center with current documentation. The student must submit to the ASC Director a request for Course Substitution Form, a letter justifying the request, and a current transcript.
The Board of Educational Assessment reviews the request and the student's disability documentation. The Board makes a recommendation to the Vice President for Academic Affairs to grant or deny the course substitution request. The student, the ASC Director, the Registrar, and the student's advisor are notified in writing of the final decision. Approved requests also include criteria for the course(s) to be completed in place of the requirement.
