International nongovernmental organizations; advocacy and public policy; governance of nonprofit organizations; nonprofit management.


PRESENTATIONS, PUBLICATIONS OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

For 25 years, served as the executive director of five nonprofit organizations, including two national organizations and the NC Partnership for Children, which oversees the statewide Smart Start Early Childhood Program.

Co-director (with Pamela Palmer) of the Nonprofit Leadership Enhancement Program (NLEP).

Presented a paper on nongovernmental organizations in Cambodia at the 2007 annual meeting of ARNOVA.


GRANTS:

Three-year grant from the Hayden-Harman Foundation, which was matched by HPU, to provide training, technical assistance and capacity building for nonprofit organizations in High Point.


OTHER SPECIAL PROJECTS:

Conducted trainings for nongovernmental organizations in Cambodia in 2006 and in Slovenia in 2007.
