Earl N. Phillips School of Business - Welcome

Welcome! The Phillips School of Business programs are formulated to prepare students for the rapidly changing business world.

We are fortunate to be located in High Point, North Carolina, a city of 85,000.  High Point is a member of the Triad, including High Point, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, an area with a population of over one million people. The Triad is a growing area as evidenced by recent announcements of the arrival of Dell Computers and Federal Express. Additionally, the following companies employ over 1,000 in the Triad: Sara Lee Corp, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Wachovia Bank, Laboratory Corp. of America, Klaussner Furniture Industries, VF Corp., Lexington Home Brands, American Express, Thomasville Furniture, BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust), Bank of America, Thomas Built Buses, Leggett & Platt, Lowes Foods, GMAC (General Motors Acceptance Corporation) Insurance, BellSouth Telecommunications, Lincoln Financial, and Procter & Gamble.

High Point is known as the "Furniture Capital of the World". Twice a year, High Point hosts the International Furniture Market, the largest wholesale showing of Home Furnishings in the world. Business people from all over the world visit High Point to buy and sell furniture. Many of our students take advantage of this opportunity to work part-time and meet various business leaders in the furniture industry.

Our vibrant and diverse business community offers many opportunities: internships, guest speakers, field trips, and experiential learning (i.e., student projects with local businesses). The School of Business Advisory Board is a strong partner providing feedback on our programs and generating opportunities for both our programs and students. The result of all these relationships is "real-world", hands-on learning experiences for our students.

The School of Business Faculty are focused on student success. Whether a faculty member is teaching, tutoring, advising, consulting, or researching, the goal is to increase the value of our students. We realize that our success and, indeed, our mission are directly tied to the success of our students and alumni.

The Phillips School of Business offers a variety of majors and minors in both the day and evening programs. An evening MBA program is also available. Please explore our website. I would be happy to respond to any questions you might have, as would any of the chairs, directors, or faculty.
