The mission of the Athletic Training Education Program at High Point University is to develop competent entry level professionals in athletic training. The program uses the standards set forth by the accreditation of CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education). Upon graduation from the program athletic training students are eligible to sit for the BOC examination to become certified athletic trainers.
The program at High Point University provides an excellent educational experience that is a combination of classroom instruction and practical experience allowing the athletic training student to develop the skills required of a certified athletic trainer. At High Point University "learning is through action" which is achieved through a collaborative relationship with faculty, students and affiliates sites.

High Point University's Athletic Training Education Program strives to provide an opportunity for students to develop optimal skills in the prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility. The athletic training students develop decision making skills that will allow the student to use the professional knowledge provided by the program. The Athletic Training Education Program also provides students the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of clinical settings and with a variety of athletes. Clinical experiences include male and female sports, team and individual sports, and high and low risk sports. Additionally, students are exposed to a variety of clinical settings, including high schools, universities, and sports medicine clinics. Furthermore, the program places students in supervised situations which encourage common sense, rational thinking and problem solving skills. The program also exposes the athletic training student to other professionals of the athletic health care team both in the classroom and in the clinical settings.
