This weekend, more than 360 student in 20 different academic disciplines from 18 institutions in the South will be on the High Point University campus for the 6th Annual Big South Undergraduate Research Symposium (BigSURS). The BigSURS provides a forum for undergraduates to share their research and findings through posters, presentations, performances, and works of art.
The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works at High Point University provides students with the tools to get involved in collaborative work with faculty and pursue their own research interests. Many HPU students will be presenting their research this weekend.
This week, HPU senior and business plan competition finalist, Alexa Crawford launched her website TEAL, inspired by the color for ovarian cancer awareness. The Ever After Lady (TEAL) is a social networking hub for women with life-threatening diseases to find support, friendship and to feel beautiful. Crawford was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer at just 16 years old and said she would’ve loved to have something like TEAL while she was battling the disease.
The entrepreneurship major says she’s trying to create a community that women can access right from their hospital beds. She is working with doctors and hospitals to grow the network and bring more patients to the site.
Thanks to your votes, men’s basketball senior, Corey Law competed in the Denny’s College Slam Dunk Contest last night. The competition was televised live on ESPN to kick off the NCAA Final Four Weekend in Atlanta.
