Lars Farabee

Region: Massachusetts

Telephone Number: (336) 841-9637

Email Address: lfarabee@highpoint.edu

Aloha! My name is Lars Farabee, and I am the admissions counselor for Massachusetts. I grew up in coastal Maine, so I am very excited to head back to New England. I promise to try to bring some warmer weather and Southern hospitality back with me!

I graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2007 with a B.A. in English, and from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2010 with an M.A. in Liberal and Global Studies. I knew that I wanted to head south after college (I was wicked tired of the cold), and luckily I ended up here at High Point University. I've been here for several years now, but it took me less than a day to realize that this is truly an extraordinary place!

There are many wonderful students from Massachusetts here on campus. There are also many students, like you, that are ready to take part in all of the wonderful opportunities that await you here at High Point University. I hope that you are able to enjoy them! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Joe Cristy

Region: Transfer, Readmit and Spring Enrollment

Telephone Number: (336) 841-9277

Email Address: jcristy@highpoint.edu

A 1998 graduate of HPU and eleven-year veteran of Undergraduate Admissions, I am responsible for all transfer, readmit and spring enrollment students. I also serve as our Athletics Liaison and oversee the University Ambassador (tour guide) program. Originally from Baltimore, MD, I am a 1994 alumnus of Archbishop Curley High School. I committed to HPU as a student-athlete and was a part of the Panthers' transition to NCAA Division I athletics, as a four-year member of the baseball team. I served as captain of the squad throughout my senior year and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sport Management, with a concentration in Business. I began the first of three stints in the Admissions Office traveling North Carolina in 1998-99. During my time here I have been fortunate to meet so many wonderful people across many different states, including: Virginia, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and my home state of Maryland. For a brief period of time, I served as HPU's Sports Information Director and currently remain involved with athletics, serving as the liaison to that department as well as providing my voice as the Public Address Announcer for our Panthers. I was promoted to Director of Recruitment in June 2012.

In 2003, I married HPU grad and former women's soccer player, Jennifer Franks. We've enjoyed traveling together and coach a local club soccer team for the Piedmont Triad Futbol Club. In December of 2011 we welcomed our first child, Jackson Alexander, who enjoys watching HPU sporting events and interacting with all students on-campus. I remain loyal to my Baltimore roots, as an avid fan of the NFL's Ravens and MLB's Orioles. In fact, I continue to hold season-tickets with the Ravens, despite living in the South. I routinely make the twelve-hour roundtrip for most home games.

I commonly remark that, "...My job is to help each student find the right school for them." It humbles me to think of the many thousands of students over the years that saw HPU through my eyes and experiences and thought that it was, in fact, the right school for them too. I look forward to working with all of you throughout the application and college selection processes. Never hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.
