Applying to High Point University

Admissions Policy
High Point University offers admission to prospective applicants on a competitive basis. The most important factors in determining the admission of prospective students are the academic transcript, including grades received and course selection, followed by standardized test scores (SAT or ACT). Other important factors in the admissions decision are demonstrated leadership, extracurricular and community involvement, and special talent. Although it is not required for admission, a campus visit is highly recommended for all students. During your visit, you will have an information session with a member of the admissions staff.

Freshman Admission
Students applying to High Point University as freshmen should complete the following courses during their high school careers:

1. English: 4 units
2. Math: 3 units (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II)
3. Science: 3 units (lab sciences are recommended)
4. Social Studies: 3 units
5. Foreign Language: 2 units of the same language

Once all required documents are received, a decision will be made, and the applicant will be notified of a decision by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Affirmative decisions remain provisional, pending receipt of final transcripts. Within thirty days following acceptance, students should post the following deposit: students who intend to live on-campus ($500), students who intend to live at home with a parent or guardian ($500). This amount is credited directly toward the account of the student and does not represent an additional charge. The deposit is refundable (except for students accepted under the Early Decision plan) until May 1, after which it is nonrefundable.

Transfer students must be eligible to return to the previous institution attended. Admission for transfer students is competitive and is offered on a space available basis (priority consideration is given to freshmen). Admission to High Point University as a transfer student is based on a student's high school record, SAT or ACT scores, final semester GPA, as well as the cumulative GPA. Once a student is admitted to the University, then a complete credit evaluation and degree audit will be completed.
