Interiors and Home Furnishings Club
Students from the Interiors and Home Furnishings Club at High Point University have traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to study famous “low country” architecture and interior design styles. While enjoying a horse-drawn carriage ride club members visited restored homes which included the Nathaniel Russell House and the Aiken-Rhett House, and viewed other famed brightly colored antebellum mansions and homes dating to the 1800s near Battery Park. They also toured nearby Boone Hall Plantation.
For many of the students this was the first trip to historic Charleston, and it proved to be a valuable way to reinforce classroom learning.
We have a very active Home Furnishings and Design Club at High Point University.
The members are involved in charity work, as well as furthering the goals of interior design and home furnishings students.
Visual Art and Design Guild
This organization is for students who are interested in the fields of art and design. Members recently participated in a glass blowing workshop along with a field trip to the North Carolina Museum of Art. Students also created signage for an Earth Day fair as well as a mural for the local Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream shop. Graphic Design students recently created a series of logos for the “The American Dream Project”.
