HIGH POINT, N.C., March 20, 2009 – High Point University recently hosted “A Gathering of Entrepreneurs” on campus.
The event took place on March 18 in David Francis Auditorium in Phillips Hall. Approximately 100 HPU alumni executives and business owners gathered to build relationships, identify internship and job opportunities for students, and volunteer as guest lecturers. HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein gave a presentation discussing business in the 21st century.
“I was overwhelmed with enthusiasm after hearing the optimistic view of Dr. Qubein and how he is transforming our university, especially through our current economic climate,” says Laine Mashburn, a 1962 graduate and president and CEO of Ionics Medical Corporation. “I am so proud of my alma mater.”
“The entrepreneurs who attended this event were asked to impact High Point University in many different ways,” explains Dr. Jim Wehrley, associate professor and dean of the Earl N. Phillips School of Business. “Their involvement will help them form a networking web that we hope will reconnect and benefit our alumni and current students, and the university?s entrepreneurship program.”
Following the event, participants attended a special networking reception.
