HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 22, 2009 – High Point University’s Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority recently took part in a philanthropy event at Carowinds Amusement Park in Charlotte. The event, held on Oct. 9, helped to raise money for diabetes research.
“Sisters had a great time working for such a great and worthwhile cause,” says Amanda Anderson, president of Alpha Gamma Delta.
Throughout the day, the sorority worked in numerous areas of the park, including food services and games. All told, the chapter raised more than $2,000, which will go to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.
“Diabetes continues to affect our members and their friends, families and acquaintances at an outstanding rate, and as a sisterhood, we have the unique opportunity to look to each other for support and education,” says Anderson. “Since Carowinds is dedicated to helping nonprofit groups achieve their goals and raise money for their organizations, groups like ours can work in the park on certain days, and all of the proceeds raised are donated directly to our charity.”
The chapter will also offer a raffle in November – which is Diabetes Awareness Month ? for tickets to the Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings football game.
