HPU's Kappa Delta Sorority To Host Fundraiser For 'Prevent Child Abuse America'

HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 2, 2009 – High Point University?s chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority will host its second annual Shamrock event on Nov. 14, to raise support for the organization Prevent Child Abuse America. The event will be held in the Slane Student Center.

The 12-hour event will include fun, fellowship and food. Specific events will include:

– Noon to 1 p.m. – free time
– 1 to 1:40 p.m. – kids time
– 2 to 3 p.m. ? “Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?”
– 3 to 3:30 p.m. ? time for autographs from celebrities
– 4 to 7 p.m. ? basketball game will be shown on screen
– 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ? dinner
– 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ? free swing dance lessons
– 7:30 to 9 p.m. ? “High Point?s Got Talent”
– 9:30 to 11 p.m. ? Concert by The Chris Lane Band

Each year, Kappa Delta chapters across the United States host Shamrock events to benefit Prevent Child Abuse America. Chapters raise money in various ways, with all funding donated to the national Prevent Child Abuse organization and local shelters. Last year, the HPU chapter raised more than $3,000, and the chapter hopes to exceed that amount with this year’s event.
