HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 11, 2010 ? The Student Government Association of High Point University recently gave a hand to a local nonprofit agency ? Helping Hands of High Point ? by donating a grill.
The SGA was in the process of acquiring a new grill, and wanted to find a proper home for their old piece of equipment. They contacted the United Way of Greater High Point, and the group quickly discovered that Helping Hands ? a local organization that provides emergency food, financial support and counseling for families in need ? would benefit greatly from the students? grill.
“We wanted to give the grill to a group who would use it to serve others,” says SGA President Andrew Realon. “As students of HPU, we are also members of the High Point community. In the coming semester, we will continue to do all we can to support local organizations such as the Helping Hands.”
The group will put the grill to good use now; they previously had to borrow grills for events they held, such as their Senior Cookout and Christmas in July celebration.
