HPU President, Students Ring NASDAQ Closing Bell

Posted on March 8, 2010.

HIGH POINT, N.C., March 8, 2010 – High Point University visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City’s Times Square on March 8 for a special occasion – they were there to ring the closing bell. A group of High Point University faculty members, administrators and students were included in the memorable event. Dr. Nido Qubein, president of HPU, rang the bell at 4 p.m.
Video of the bell-ringing aired on the NASDAQ MarketSite tower – one of the largest stationary video screens in the world, standing at seven stories tall. The broadcast, which included a High Point University promotional video, ran from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Qubein, who gave a speech prior to the bell-ringing, noted that the occasion was a great learning opportunity for HPU students.

“They will remember this occasion and reflect on it as they pursue their careers in finance and business,” Qubein says.
