HIGH POINT, N.C., June 16, 2010 ? Two rising sophomores from High Point University recently volunteered at a free medical clinic at the New Vision Home orphanage in Christiana, Jamaica.
Kristen Montgomery and Chelsea Kiser were part of an 11-member volunteer medical team that provided medical checkups and medicine to members of the Christiana community. The group included doctors, physician?s assistants, nurses, a dental hygienist and several students.
Montgomery and Kiser counted and distributed the medicine that was given to the patients, as well as played and led devotions with the children and teenagers of the orphanage.
?It was really great to get to know all the children at the orphanage, and to get to know their culture,? says Kiser. ?After helping out at the clinic, it made me thankful for all of the medical care that I have come across in the United States. The Jamaicans were so appreciative of our service to them, which really made the trip special for me.?
