HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 6, 2010 – Evan R.B. Walker, a rising junior at High Point University, has always loved poetry – so getting his worked published has been a dream come true. Walker’s poem, “The Priorities List” was published in the Black Magnolias Literary Journal at Jackson State University in Mississippi. The poem appeared in the journal?s summer issue, which came out on July 1.
Walker, a native of Atlanta majoring in English writing with a minor in marketing, explains he has been writing poetry since middle school.
“You never know how your work will be viewed until you see the outcome of it,” Walker says. “Writing, by itself, has been a long journey of mine since I was 14 years old ? and it has been a lot of hard work. Alongside my other journeys, it has encompassed everything I was taught by my teachers and family: do your best, never give up on your work and see through to the end. And of course, always keep at it.”
The Black Magnolias Literary Journal focuses primarily on Southern Black Literature.
