HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 4, 2010 – Andrew Realon, a rising senior majoring in human relations with minors in communication and religion at High Point University, is spending his summer in the communications office at the North Carolina Department of the State Treasurer. As an intern, Realon is involved in many different areas of the communication field, including writing press releases, compiling research, delivering presentations, and even working directly with the NC General Assembly in matters that pertain to the State Treasurer. “HPU has prepared me well for my internship, because I did not spend a lot of time on training,” said Realon. ?I was able to jump right in and start working.”
Realon received his internship through the N.C. State Government Intern Program, which is celebrating its 40th year. Realon was selected as one of the 64 interns in the program out of the 930 students who applied in North Carolina. Realon intends on beginning law school in fall 2011, and is interested in a career of public service. He previously served as the President of HPU?s Student Government Association and Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, and currently serves as a Captain University Ambassador.
