HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 17, 2010 ? High Point University?s chapter of College Republicans, as well as the Young American?s Foundation, will host former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush Karl Rove on the HPU campus. Rove will speak on Monday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. in the Pauline Theater of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is not open to the public.
Rove is well-known in national politics. Apart from advising former President Bush, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy. During his time working with the White House, he oversaw the Offices of Strategic Initiative, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Previous to his political endeavors, Rove served as the president of Karl Rove + Company, a public affairs firm based in Austin, Texas that worked with republican candidates, non-partisan causes and non-profit groups.
Currently, Rove serves on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and the Texas State History Museum Foundation. He is also a member of the McDonald Observatory Board of Visitors and the Texas Philosophical Society.
