HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 20, 2010 ? High Point University will celebrate its talented student instrumentalists with an exciting evening of music at the annual Fall Instrumental Ensemble Concert, to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is open to the public.
The concert will feature several ensembles from the university family, including the HPU Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Pep Band, Chamber Orchestra, Drum Line, Jazz Ensemble, String Ensemble, Flute Choir and Brass Ensemble.
Dr. Danny Frye, director of instrumental studies at HPU, says the concert will feature a variety of works, ranging from classical to contemporary, and that there is something for everyone to enjoy in the performance. Pieces by Brooks, Ellington, Vinson, and Strayhorn will also be featured.
“We have added four new ensembles this year,” says Frye. “This will be the largest instrumental concert in the history of High Point University and I hope everyone will put this on their calendar and join us for an evening of great music.”
The concert is free and open to the public. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
