HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 18, 2010 -High Point University recently donated a passenger van in conjunction with The Budd Group to the High Point Community Against Violence organization.
High Point Community Against Violence (HPCAV) is a non-profit organization formed in 1997 to reduce violent crimes and to keep citizens safe from violent offenders in High Point.
HPCAV works in conjunction with the Violent Crimes Task Force, a group of law enforcement officials consisting of the High Point Police Department, NC Community Corrections, ATF, FBI, SBI, DEA, District Attorney?s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. They work together by confronting offenders who are involved in violent crimes, offering them help in turning their lives in a positive direction and supporting the prosecution process if the offenders should return to crime and violence.
“High Point University supports the High Point Citizens Against Violence. Their impact on this community is significant as is demonstrated on the de-escalation of crime in our city,” says Dr. Don Scarborough, vice president of community relations at HPU. “They needed a mode of transportation to expand their impact, so we were happy to help them find the van.”
