Students Sell Lemonade To Find A Cure

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 27, 2011 ? All it took was a little bit of lemons and a lot of love. The end result? A unique lemonade stand, set up by students at High Point University, to help raise money and awareness for childhood cancer and to support research to find a cure.

The event, which is part of Alex?s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), was organized by the Human Relations Leadership class at HPU, and was hosted at the Slane Center pool. The students sold cups of lemonade throughout the day to raise money for the cause.

The group raffled off prizes during the event. Students also hosted an event at Feeney?s Frozen Yogurt Bar in High Point, where 10 percent of the proceeds went to the ALSF.

?As students of the Human Relations Leadership class at High Point University, we pride ourselves on giving back,? says HPU senior Kimberly Evans. ?This was a great way to reach out to students on the HPU campus and ask them to join us in the fight against childhood cancer.?

ALSF is a public charity that has raised more than $40 million toward increasing awareness of childhood cancer causes and supporting research into new treatments and cures.
