Theatre Brings Song And Dance To Campus In Annual 'Musical Theatre Scenes'

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 22, 2011 ? The Department of Theatre at High Point University recently treated the community to a night of music and entertainment with its program of popular musical theatre scenes, in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.

The program honored renowned American composer and lyricist Steven Sondheim and included his works from ?Sweeney Todd,? ?Into the Woods,? ?Follies,? ?Gypsy? and ?A Little Night Music.?

The show featured several HPU students, including senior Marie Ventrone; junior Chrissy Bracken; sophomore Daniela Sawyer; and freshmen Courtney Feiman, Deitr Getz and Jamison Meyer. The program was directed by Dr. Alexa Schlimmer, associate professor of music at HPU, and accompanied by Marcia Dills, assistant professor of music.
