HIGH POINT, N.C., May 19, 2011 ? Members of the High Point University class of 1961 helped celebrate 2011 commencement weekend by participating in a big way ? by contributing $545,415.61 to the university.
The class of 1961 included 216 graduates, and more than 42 percent of the class contributed to the total number of donations.
Members from the class of ?61 were also inducted into the Cornerstone Club, which signifies their 50th anniversary from graduating from High Point College, and honors their lifelong involvement with their alma mater; 37 graduates were there to celebrate the occasion.
Nearly half ? 49 percent ? of the class of ?61 is made up of residents from High Point and the Piedmont Triad.
