HIGH POINT, N.C., May 17, 2011 ? David Werner, a rising senior majoring in business administration with minors in marketing and sales at High Point University, has scored a major career goal, thanks to valuable career experience as part of an internship with the Florida Panthers National Hockey League team, in Sunrise, Fla.
As part of his internship, Werner has spent the semester working with the NHL team by assisting with office duties, working with the group sales representatives, helping with events and client services, and working with youth hockey teams in southern Florida.
?My internship has definitely been the best thing I have ever done,? says Werner. ?It incredibly difficult to get into the professional sports world, but this internship has helped me create so many wonderful connections.?
Werner, who is from Newburyport, Mass., plans to pursue a career in sales with the NHL, and says that his studies at HPU helped prepare him for his internship.
?This internship has been an incredible experience and I have learned so much from directly working with the Florida Panthers executives,? says Werner. ?In today?s world it?s all about connections and networking, and the connections from doing an internship are ones that you can always rely on.?
