HIGH POINT, N.C., May 23, 2011 ? Students at High Point University now have access to one of the grandest instruments of all time ? a Steinway concert grand piano that arrived directly from the stage of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Located in the University Center, the piano has been played by some of the greatest pianists of our time during its years in Chicago and is one of dozens of Steinway pianos already on campus, which helps add prestige to HPU?s designation as an ?All Steinway Campus.?
HPU students have the privilege to give personal performances on this grand piano. It is open to all students to play, and it has an automated player that turns on when not being utilized by students that enhances the atmosphere of the University Center.
?Our students appreciate having access to such wonderful resources,? says Dr. Marc Foster, associate professor of music and chair of the Music Department. ?Now, students can share their musical talent with fellow classmates, professors, staff and guests at High Point University. The addition of this piano certainly adds to the inspiring environment on our campus.?
