Student Collaborates With Executives At IBM As Part Of Internship

HIGH POINT, N.C., June 16, 2011 – Monica Fox, a senior at High Point University, is busy getting hands-on experience while interning in the marketing department at IBM in Armonk, N.Y.

Fox, a marketing major, is spending the summer collaborating with executives of IBM and working on the information management team. Already, she has attended meetings at the IBM headquarters to hear IBM’s senior vice president speak about social media, branding and IBM’s highly successful and innovate strategies.

Throughout the course of her internship, Fox hopes to gain valuable experience working with experienced leaders, sales reps, marketing experts and key partners such as IBM’s advertising agency.

“One thing that stuck in my mind was how much the IBM executives emphasized the importance of being able to collaborate with others in order to succeed in a global company. High Point University’s focus on team-based projects has been great preparation,” Fox says of being team leader for a week. “It’s really cool to apply what we learned in the classroom to the real world, and I’m looking forward to getting started on my projects, as this will being great learning experience.”
