HIGH POINT, N.C., June 13, 2011 – Tyler McCoy, a rising junior majoring in strategic communication with a minor in business finance at High Point University, is getting a one-of-a-kind experience while interning with MTV Networks in Santa Monica, Calif. this summer.
McCoy, a native of Newburgh, N.Y. and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, is working in the special events department at MTV. There, she works on a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment – including assisting the MTV office with travel plans, event orders and all preparations related to events. She also has spent time working on-site at events, such as working the “Teen Wolf” cast and premiere party. There, she assisted with guest check-in, set up and overall management of the event.
She was especially excited to work the MTV Movie Awards, which was held on June 5.
“MTV Networks encompasses such a variety such as Spike, VH1, Comedy Central, MTV, BET to name just a few. To be able to work on events for the whole scope of brands is awesome,” McCoy says. “It’s really cool to go from MTV-specific events like the ?Teen Wolf’ premiere party or the MTV 2011 Movie Awards one night, to the Spike Guys Choice Awards the next night. I love seeing each event come together in real life. It’s like watching your own planning on paper come to life. And just knowing I am a part of the MTV team that puts it all together is a pretty amazing feeling.”
