HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 7, 2011 – Dr. Holly Middleton was recently hired as an assistant professor of English in the Department of English at High Point University.
With expertise in composition, literacy and pedagogy, Middleton will be responsible for teaching writing courses at all levels.
“Writing classes offer instructors a way to individually mentor students in their intellectual growth,” says Middleton. “I hope to eventually work with students through the process of submitting their work to undergraduate research conferences, where they can present and gain some professional experience.”
Middleton, who is originally from El Paso, Texas, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Sam Houston State University, a Master of Arts degree in English from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in English at the University of Pittsburg.
“I feel lucky to be part of HPU at such an exciting time in their strategic plan,” says Middleton. “It offers ways for faculty to make innovative contributions to student learning and university growth.”
