HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 23, 2011 – High Point University will celebrate this year’s holiday season by hosting a performance by the North Carolina Symphony at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the Pauline Theater of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.
Organized in 1932 under the direction of Pulitzer traveling fellowship recipient and composer Lamar Stringfield, the Orchestra has been led by Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Swalin for 35 years.
The orchestra, which is currently celebrating its 79th anniversary, is a full-time, professional orchestra with 68 under members under the artistic leadership of music director Grant Llewellyn.
“We are delighted to be able to offer such a talented group of musicians to our campus each year,” says Don Scarborough, vice president of Community Relations. “It’s truly a wonderful opportunity for the community to come out and experience an evening of the arts on our campus.”
Complimentary tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis by contacting 336-841-9209 or email@example.com.
