Student Government Association Gives Donation to United Way

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 2, 2011 – The Student Government Association at High Point University recently presented a $1,500 donation to the United Way of Greater High Point on Dec. 1 as their annual holiday gift.

“The SGA Executive Council felt that during this season of giving, we should give a donation to a local charity,” says Nicholas Lincoln, SGA president. “The SGA works hard to ensure that each organization on campus has the means to help this campus and our community.”

Lincoln says that choosing the United Way was not a difficult choice to make.

“The United Way of Greater High Point continuously helps our great town, and we are giving this donation in the hopes that they can use it in the various community programs throughout the year,” Lincoln says. “HPU teaches us many values, and among them is the spirit of generosity. During this busy holiday season, we felt it would be nice to take the time and thank those who have helped those in the High Point community – and the United Way of Greater High Point is certainly something that deserves thanks.”

High Point University students volunteer more than 30,000 hours and raise nearly $100,000 in funds for local, national and international causes each year.
