HIGH POINT, N.C., July 27, 2012 – Brenda Coates, administrative assistant in the Office of Academic Development, has been appointed to serve as a member of the Library Board of Trustees, the group that oversees the policies and operations of the High Point Public Library.

Coates was appointed unanimously to the board by the High Point City Council. She will serve as a trustee through October 2014.

“Our Boards and Commissions play an important role in our community, and in order to carry out this role, we need interested volunteers who are willing to give of their time and talent while carrying out the duties and responsibilities they assume as members,” writes Lisa Vierling, City Clerk, in an appointment letter to Coates.

“I am honored that the High Point City Council has placed their trust in me to serve in this capacity, and it is a privilege to volunteer my time and abilities with other members of the board,” says Coates. “I will give my best effort with the same passion for extraordinary service that is exemplary of the High Point University commitment to its students and their families.
