HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 10, 2012 – High Point University game and interactive media design students from the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication visited the Smithsonian Institution Museum of American Art on Sept. 15.
Dr. Wilfred Tremblay, dean of the School of Communication, and Dr. Stefan Hall, associate professor of communication, accompanied 17 students to Washington, D.C. The trip was made possible by the Office of Institutional Advancement and gave the students the opportunity to meet a professional in their field of choice, Chris Melissinos, the exhibit curator. The students were given a personal tour of the Art of Video Games exhibit by Melissinos.
In addition to being the exhibit curator, Melissinos is an author, the creator of the Game Technologies Group, and the founder of an organization dedicated to the preservation of video games. He also continues to develop Java gamine technologies.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for students to interface with a professional from the video game industry,” says Hall. “The excitement of the students was evident in the vigorous exchange with Mr. Melissinos throughout the tour.”
