10.17.2012

High Point University ConcertHIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 17, 2012 – The University Band at High Point University will celebrate Halloween by featuring a selection of spooky music with the concert “Fright Night.” The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is open to the public; no tickets are required.

The band, which will perform several familiar works, including Michael Markowski’s “Shadow Rituals” and Eric Whitacre’s “Ghost Train,” will entertain audiences young and old, says Dr. Danny Frye, director of instrumental studies.

To continue with the Halloween theme, the concert event will also offer treats during intermission. Following the concert, a special showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will be played.

“Our audience will get a thrilling taste of Halloween-inspired pieces that will surely leave our guests energized,” Frye says. “Our talented University Band students are working on challenging musical arrangements while getting into the spirit of the theme of the music – which is why we hope the community will come out and enjoy the treats and our special movie showing at ‘Fright Night.’”
