Annual Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service to Celebrate Holiday Season

11.29.2012

High Point University Lessons and Carols HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 26, 2012 – High Point University will come together and ring in the holiday season with the annual Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Hayworth Chapel. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

This special service, based on the traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols at King’s College in Cambridge, England, will feature members of the university community, including members of the HPU music department and the Chapel Choir. The Board of Stewards, Alpha Delta Theta sorority and Delta Iota Alpha fraternity will serve as ushers and greeters.

Following the candlelight service, those present are invited to walk directly outside the chapel for the lighting of the Hayworth Chapel Christmas Tree and the singing of Christmas carols around the tree. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

The service will be broadcast live to the Chapel fellowship hall to accommodate overflow attendance and parents with small children. It will also be broadcast via Internet and live streaming for those who cannot attend in person. The Web address is www.highpoint.edu/events.

Parking will be available for community members behind the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.
