Community Invited to Campus to Share in the Christmas Spirit

High Point University Christmas Community event HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 29, 2012 – High Point University is welcoming surrounding neighbors and community members of the Piedmont Triad to campus for two nights of holiday celebration from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 19-20. The event is free and open to the public.

Campus is decorated for the holidays, and guests are invited to see the lights on the Kester International Promenade while enjoying Christmas music sung by community choirs, hot chocolate, cookies and visits High Point University Christmas Community event with Santa, who will offer a gift to every child.

“We look forward to sharing the Christmas spirit with our many neighbors and Triad friends,” says Dr. Don Scarborough, vice president for community relations. “There is something for everyone to enjoy, from the classic Christmas songs to greetings from Santa. It’s a wonderful time for us all to come together.”

Community choirs will be singing in the Hayworth Chapel during the event. They include:

 

Wednesday, Dec. 19

  • 5 to 5:30 p.m. – Christ United Methodist Church, Joyful Sounds band
  • 5:30 to 6 p.m. – Penn-Griffin School for the Arts Choir
  • 6 to 7 p.m. – Wheatmore High School
  • 7 to 7:30 p.m. – HPU student pianists
  • 7:30 to 8 p.m. – New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries
  • 8 to 8:30 p.m. – HPU student pianists

Thursday, Dec. 20

  • 5:30 to 6 p.m. – Northwood Elementary School Notables
  • 6 to 6:45 p.m. – Christ United Methodist Church, Joyful Sounds band
  • 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. – HPU student pianists
  • 7:30 to 8 p.m. – New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries
  • 8 to 8:30 p.m. – Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church
