High Point University Feeds 400 People on Campus

Posted on December 24, 2012.

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 24, 2012 – High Point University embraced the spirit of Christmas by feeding 400 people on its campus on Dec. 21 and offering them free admission to a men’s basketball game afterwards.

HPU partnered with the United Way of Greater High Point and local nonprofits to invite people to the meal who may be facing difficult times during the Christmas season. Children and their parents from Communities in Schools, the YWCA and the YMCA, Oak Hill Elementary School, clients of the Housing of Authority of High Point and other local agencies attended the dinner.

“The spirit of giving is alive and well on the HPU campus all year long and is magnified during the Christmas season,” said Dr. Don Scarborough, vice president of community relations. “We enjoyed the fellowship with people in our community and hope their Christmas is a little brighter because of it.”
