03.6.2013

HPU High Point University Carl Hall Heroes Red CrossHIGH POINT, N.C., March 6, 2013 – High Point University graduate student Carl Hall will be honored as a Citizen Hero at the Red Cross’ “Third Annual Salute to Heroes Celebration,” at 7 p.m. on March 8 in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center on the HPU campus.

Hall, a second year MBA student, will be recognized for helping save the life of a co-worker this past summer. Hall works for Guilford County Schools. He says he was getting ready to leave when he noticed a man had collapsed. Hall and another man, Harry Forrest, performed CPR for six minutes until EMTs arrived at the scene.

Hall later learned the man had suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to Hall and Forrest, the man survived and was able to thank both of his heroes in person.

“I’m just happy I could help him,” says Hall.

Hall plans to graduate with a master’s degree from High Point University this summer. He says the education should help him move up in his career, or possibly start his own HVAC business.

Hall is one of 14 heroes being honored at this year’s celebration.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors, students, children and members of the military. Anyone interested in attending can purchase tickets at the Greensboro or Greater High Pont-Davidson Chapter of the American Red Cross.
