04.2.2013

HPU High Point University BigSURSHIGH POINT, N.C., April 2, 2013 – Hundreds of students and faculty from the Big South Atlantic Conference will be in High Point this weekend for the 6th Big South Undergraduate Research Symposium, to be hosted at High Point University.

The BigSURS provides undergraduate scholars a forum to share the results of their research through posters, presentations, performances and works of art. More than 360 students in 20 different disciplines from 18 institutions in the South will be presenting at the conference April 5-6. The conference will start early Friday afternoon and end mid-Saturday afternoon.

The conference not only showcases the city of High Point to people from all over the south, but also confirms HPU’s academic standing in the conference.

“Hosting BigSURS at High Point University demonstrates our place among the academically rigorous institutions in North Carolina,” says Dr. Joanne Altman, director of the office of undergraduate research and creative works. “Other great institutions that are participating include Davidson College, Campbell University and more.”
