HIGH POINT, N.C., May 8, 2013 – A junior at High Point University, Rachael Lehman, recently won the National Broadcasting Society’s “Top Video Sports Segment” award for a Weekly Roundup piece she produced for “Panther Sports.” The project beat out competitors from larger schools including the University of South Carolina and the University of Florida.
“I feel very honored to have won the award,” Lehman says. “It’s always very exciting and gratifying to have your efforts recognized outside of the classroom by a national organization.”
This summer, Lehman plans to intern with the television production company Taillight in Nashville.
“Panther Sports” is produced by the School of Communications Senior Production Experience class.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Rachael won this award,” says Dr. Wilfred Tremblay, dean of the School of Communication. “We already knew Rachael was one of the top students in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication. This award also validates the national quality of our faculty and instruction.”
This is the second NBS award win for the School of Communication. “Panther Sports” also won the NBD “Top Video Sports Program” award in 2011.
