HIGH POINT, N.C., July 16, 2013 – High Point University will honor the dozens of local businesses that serve as Passport Partners with the Passport Luncheon. The event, to be held at 11 a.m. on July 25 in the conference center ballroom in the Greek Village, serves as a celebration and “thank you” for their continued support.
“This luncheon serves as a great opportunity to get to know our community partners,” says Lyndsey Derrow, chief campus concierge and coordinator of the Passport program. “It’s also a chance to remind our partners of the many perks the program offers to both the businesses and to HPU students. It’s truly a remarkable program that has grown tremendously since its start in 2006.”
Passport Partners are businesses that allow HPU students, faculty and staff to make purchases using their HPU ID card – known as the “Passport” card. The card makes it easy and convenient for the HPU family to do business in the community. HPU provides student shuttles to and from many of these businesses during the week. The college also invites businesses onto campus to promote their products and services.
When it began, the program had less than 10 partners. Today, it includes 88 partners that feature a variety of restaurants, retail shops and more. All partners are identified by the HPU umbrellas, flags and decals on their shop windows and doors.
