Rising Senior Helps Develop Marketing Campaign for Australian Football Team

07.15.2013

Naomi EhrensHIGH POINT, N.C., July 15, 2013 – Naomi Ehrens, a business administration major with a concentration in marketing and native of Ashland, Mass., is gaining professional and cultural experiences while working in Sydney, Australia this summer.

The rising senior was selected for an internship position with a new Australian football team, the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

Ehrens is working as part of the team’s marketing coordination department, which is responsible for ticket sales, fan development and media relations.

“After graduation, I plan to focus my energy on brand marketing,” says Ehrens. “A great aspect of this position is the GWS Giants are in their infancy. The Giants’ staff is dedicated to becoming a highly competitive team, in all aspects, and experiencing this transition first-hand is an invaluable experience. The growing pains of a new company teaches important marketing skills such as competitiveness, innovation and communication.”

Ehrens says classes at HPU have prepared her for all aspects of the job.

“The core values taught in my sports marketing course have come into play time and time again this summer,” says Ehrens. “The course stresses the importance of a loyal fan base and innovation in a commonly competitive market. My other marketing courses also gave me the foundation for any marketing position, not just in sports.”
