Career and Internship Expo Puts Students in Front of Employers

10.25.2013

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 25, 2013 – High Point University students lined up to get into the Career and Internship Expo Thursday.

The expo allowed students to network with major companies including Lenovo, BB&T, the FBI, DEA, Merz Pharmaceuticals and Solstas Labs. Students also took the first step toward applying for internships and full-time positions with these national organizations.

“I was looking for a summer internship and it’s good to network with and learn about all of these amazing companies,” said sophomore and international business major Kevin Rawding. “These experiences will help me learn more about what I want to do after graduation.”

Recruiters were also excited to meet the new talent coming out of HPU.

Career Expo 1“In my experience the students are well prepared, intelligent and just great candidates,” said Charlie Rogers, a recruiter for BB&T.

The HPU students were prepared. HPU advisers say anyone who plans to go to a job fair should do all they can to make a good first impression. They suggest job seekers:

• Arrive early.
• Dress professionally.
• Make eye contact with employers.
• Listen to what the recruiter has to say.
