Murray Hired as Freshman Success Counselor

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 11, 2013 – The Freshman Success Program at High Point University, recently hired Dr. Lynne Norris Murray as a Freshman Success Coach.

She is responsible for advising HPU freshmen as they begin their studies at High Point University, as well as advising them on decisions regarding their major.

As an expert teacher of professional development, Murray is looking forward to aiding incoming freshmen as they make decisions about their education.

“In working with students who are undecided majors, I hope to help them discover their passions and niches,” says Murray.

Murray previously worked with Guilford County Schools for 26 years as a high school English teacher, as well as an additional four years as a curriculum specialist. She has also worked with the National Paideia Center in providing teacher professional development in seminar and coached projects.

“I have felt welcomed at High Point University, and I look forward to collaborating with faculty and staff in order to provide a positive, extraordinary experience for our students.” says Murray.

Murray graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in English education. She also earned a Master of Education and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction teacher development from UNC-Greensboro.
