Rowing Team to Host ‘Oak Holloween Regatta’ on Saturday

10.24.2013

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 24, 2013 – The High Point University Rowing Team will host the “Oak Holloween Regatta” from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Oak Hollow Lake. The event is free and open to the public, and food and drink will be available for purchase.

HPU and three schools, UNC Wilmington, North Carolina State University and Wake Forest University rowing teams, will compete at the event, and each crew will race in costume. Shelters at 3000 Waterview Road will be available for those in attendance, as well as areas on the grass.

During the regatta, boats race a timed, designated course. Nine events will take place on Saturday for men and women’s teams.

“Our HPU team thought it would be a great opportunity for not only our team, but our community, to host this event,” said Cory Conzemius, head coach of HPU’s rowing team. “We hope that this event can continue to bring awareness to the sport of rowing and the HPU rowing team to the community while offering a fun day for local families.”
