HPU to Host ‘Lessons and Carols’ Candlelight Service

11.19.2013

HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 19, 2013 – High Point University will come together to usher in the holiday season again with the annual Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the Hayworth Chapel. The public is invited to attend the event.

The special service, based on the traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols at King’s College in Cambridge, England, will feature members of the university community, including members of the HPU music department, the Chapel Choir and the Flute Ensemble. The Board of Stewards, Alpha Delta Theta sorority and Alpha Phi Omega fraternity will serve as ushers and greeters.

Following the candlelight service, those present are invited to walk directly outside the chapel for the lighting of the Hayworth Chapel Christmas Tree. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

The service will be broadcast live to the Chapel fellowship hall to accommodate overflow attendance. It will also be broadcast via Internet and live streaming for those who cannot attend in person. Anyone can access the live stream at www.highpoint.edu/live.

Parking will be available for community members behind the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.
