HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 16, 2013 – High Point University has donated more than $200,000 through its annual employee campaign to the United Way of Greater High Point this year.
Donations from HPU, faculty, staff and students are up 426 percent from 2005, and HPU was named the city of High Point’s fourth largest contributor in 2012.
“High Point University has been an invaluable partner to United Way and this community through their financial support and volunteer hours,” says Bobby Smith, President of the United Way of High Point. “As one of our top donors, it is safe to say our community would not be receiving desperately needed services at the same capacity without them. We are so grateful for the students, faculty and staff. As HPU has grown, so too has their campaign. Crossing the $200,000 threshold in donations is a major accomplishment and the growth in giving from HPU has been nothing short of extraordinary! In addition, our partner agencies — and thus our community — have benefited immensely from the talented faculty, staff and students who volunteer as Board members, interns, mentors, volunteers, etc. Every agency I visit has been touched by HPU.”
In addition to monetary donations, HPU students, faculty and staff volunteered 104,625 hours of service in 2013.
