HPU to Host Local Filmmaker; Screening of ‘The Other Army’

TOA - Poster2HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 26, 2014 – High Point University will host filmmaker and Winston-Salem resident Sana Haq for a screening of her film, “The Other Army.” The screening and discussion with the director will take place at 5 p.m. March 11 in Phillips Hall on HPU’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Other Army” is a 27-minute documentary that focuses on the struggle of ordinary Pakistanis against terrorism. It shares the stories of two Pakistanis who have died fighting terrorists, and is told through the eyes of the filmmaker who serves as the narrator as she tries to explain the complex nature of fighting terrorism in Pakistan and the tremendous courage required to stand up against the enemies from within.

The screening will follow a 20-minute presentation from Haq, who will discuss her experiences as a female filmmaker working for social justice and greater awareness of pressing issues in the Middle East. A question and answer session with Haq will follow the film screening.
