HIGH POINT, N.C., March 4, 2014 – High Point University has received the highest score for financial responsibility from the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, which uses audited financial statements in its review.

The annual financial responsibility test for the 2012 fiscal year scored private colleges on a scale from negative 1 to positive 3. HPU received a perfect score of a positive 3, the highest score of any private university in the Triad. This is the second year in a row HPU received a perfect score.

The composite score reflects the overall financial health of an institution by ranking schools on metrics and ratios such as primary reserve ratio, equity ratio and net income ratio, which analyze colleges’ debt, assets and operating surpluses or deficits.
