HPU to Showcase Advanced Talents of Symphonic Band in Spring Concert

03.14.2014

HIGH POINT, N.C., March 13, 2014 – The High Point University Symphonic Band will again treat community members to a night of delightful music and talent at the annual Spring Band Concert. The event, to be held at 7:30 on March 28 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center, is open to the public; no tickets are required.

The upcoming concert, titled “A Beautiful Life,” will feature a variety of musical compositions, as well as commentary from band members, that seek to define a beautiful life. This concert is sure to evoke a variety of emotions for both the performers and audience.

“We are very excited about this concert,” says Dr. Danny Frye, director of instrumental studies and university bands. “Throughout this semester, the students have contemplated what it means to live a successful, meaningful, fulfilling, beautiful life. Our hope is to use music and personal perspectives to share that view of life. We hope both the campus and High Point community will join us in this celebration of life.”

Some of the pieces to be performed include “A Childhood Remembered,” “Short Ride in a Fast Machine” and “Aurora Awakes.”
