HIGH POINT, N.C., March 18, 2014 – Paige Risner, a senior at High Point University, is working on her international business skills thanks to a unique internship experience at Mack Trucks World Headquarters, located in Greensboro.
An international business major with a minor in Spanish, Risner is utilizing many of the skills she’s learned in the classroom as a business development intern for the Latin American region of Mack. There, she’s responsible for the application of new business concepts and extensive collaboration for the company’s Latin American markets, as well as helping to enhance organization, analyzing financial information and implementing business decisions.
“This internship is giving me the opportunity to experience working with people from other cultures who are driven to teach me more about the world of business,” says Risner, a native of Fayetteville, Ga. “It also introduces me to new ways of thinking, as well as the application of my education.”
Risner credits her ability to work in intercultural business to her education at HPU, and adds that the resources and staff at the university have truly prepared her for her internship experience.
“My coursework in international business was well rounded, and taught me not just about business concepts, but also how to work with people from other cultures,” Risner says. “Along with the helpful staff that is willing to go out of their way to make sure you are fully prepared, I also utilized the resources that career and internship services offer, such as Pantherlink.”
Risner aspires to eventually work for a global company, and is excited to take the first steps toward that career through this internship.
