With a successful 2014 Commencement Ceremony behind us, recent High Point University graduates are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2014:

Name: James Hylas

Major: Hylas graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration on May 3, with minors in Sales and Finance.

Post-graduation plans:  Hylas accepted a sales position with VMTurbo, a software company, in Boston. Forbes ranked VMTurbo 26th on its list of America’s Most Promising Companies in 2014.

How HPU helped you get there: “High Point University’s focus on student achievement has ultimately helped me achieve employment at VMTurbo. Throughout my time here I consistently sought out advice from a variety of professors and faculty. The Office of Career & Internship Services provided me with my first internship opportunity, as well as a plethora of advice on my resume and cover letters. The ability to attend a university where you truly are able to stand out on a daily basis, as well as a school that has a multitude of opportunities to hold leadership positions, is truly special.”

Most impactful event at HPU: “High Point University consistently hosts speakers and leaders that have been a great influence during my time here. The leadership workshop hosting multiple CEOs was the most memorable event. I was able to take away what it means to be a leader with advice from experienced professionals. HPU has always provided these opportunities and I have taken advantage of as many as possible. There is no better advice from professionals with ‘real world’ experience and High Point University has stressed that throughout different speakers.”
